If elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $390,000 towards a major upgrade of the Sunbury United Cricket and Sunbury United Rugby League Club.
The upgrade will consist of the redevelopment of clubrooms to ensure adequate shelter and facilities for both clubs.
Sunbury United Cricket and Sunbury United Rugby League Clubs are bursting at the seams, having more than enough players to be able to field a women’s team but not enough space, with both clubs sharing the facilities.
Only the Liberal Nationals will support local sports clubs instead of spending $225 million on Etihad Stadium like the Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Josh Bull has had 4 years in the job and isn’t working hard enough for this local community. Sunbury needs and deserves a hard working MP like Cassandra Marr who is going to fight hard for the community.
“Cassandra Marr has been doing extensive work for her electorate to support the growth at Sunbury United Cricket & Sunbury United Rugby League Clubs and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“The Liberal Nationals will always put grass roots sport first, unlike the Labor Party which has spent two thirds of its sport budget on the AFL and elite sport.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Sunbury, Cassandra Marr:
“Both the Sunbury United Cricket Club and Sunbury United Rugby League Clubs have had sub-par facilities for some time now and it’s unfair on local residents who continue to miss out.
“These upgrades will provide the players, supporters and volunteers a safe environment to be able to play and work in.
“If I’m elected as Member for Sunbury, I will continue to keep working hard and keep delivering for the community.”
